Feeling guilty for the sleep you desire?
Here to help you drop that guilt because the desire for sleep isn’t something that is only a desire-it’s an actual biological need.
Adequate sleep allows you to thrive as a human. Sleep allows you to show up to work daily, to parent and have patience. Quality sleep can reduce your stress, boost your immune system and help you feel better.
So, with all the benefits of sleep, why does that parenting guilt creep in?
Society often tells us that parents are supposed to be exhausted, worn out and wear their team no sleep status with a badge of honor.
This is when the desire for sleep as a parent often meets the guilty feelings of:
“I’m a parent, I should be tired.”
“I decided to have children, what did I expect?”
“One day I’ll sleep, for now this is normal.”
“I’m stuck exhausted for the next few years at least, I need to get used to it.”
Let’s flip this narrative. Sleep is a human need. Sleep is healthy for both you and your baby. You are valid for wanting more sleep. You are worth of sleep and rest.
